Student employment at JCC
Working on campus is convenient, allows you to meet new people, and helps you gain transferable skills that you can use in any career industry upon graduation! Consider applying to work on campus while you attend Jamestown Community College.
Enrollment, hours, & pay
You must be accepted for JCC admission and enrolled in six credit hours or more during the fall or spring semester in which you are working on campus. Students who fall below six credit hours are not eligible to work on campus as a student worker.
During the academic year, student workers can work up to 15 hours per week, and schedules depend on department needs and student availability. If a student worker has more than one position on campus, they still may only work a maximum of 15 hours per week between all on-campus jobs. During the summer, student workers can work up to 40 hours per week.
Student workers earn the current NYS minimum wage.
Student assistant & FWS positions
At JCC, both student assistant and Federal Work Study (FWS) positions may be available. Student assistant positions are available to both domestic and international students, regardless of financial aid packages.
Federal Work Study positions are only available for domestic students who qualify for this program through their FAFSA application. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility status, contact Financial Aid & Billing.
- Being FWS eligible does not guarantee that you will be hired. You still must apply to, interview for, and be selected for an on-campus position.
- FWS positions can only work during the academic year and cannot work during the summer months.
- Students working FWS positions must meet all federal eligibility requirements, including satisfactory academic progress, as determined by Financial Aid & Billing.
- Students eligible for FWS funding are assigned a maximum amount they can earn from this program for the academic year. Changes to your financial aid resources, living arrangements, satisfactory academic progress, and level of enrollment may alter your FWS eligibility. You and your supervisor will be notified of any changes.
- For the 2024-25 academic year, students can earn FWS funds from August 26, 2024 through May 17, 2025.
